After my workout I began going through and cleaning out things in my office. After all, an organized office is a more productive office (and for the record, my wife will say that I have a LONG way to go. I say, baby steps to greatness!). Anyway, as I was cleaning, I found a small picture frame. In it was an old list on a piece of paper on which I had written all my "dreams".
As I read them again for the first time in years, I felt ashamed. Almost every item on the list was a selfish, material nick-knack. I had written: A home in another country; the same type of Ferrari as in Magnum PI (I loved that show); buying my old house back from my ex-wife and turning it into some kind of a playboy grotto for spite and revenge . . .
I look back and realize that I must have been in a really bad place at the time. I wrote these petty things as a list of what should have been all my hopes and dreams. Well, it time to make change. It's time to change my perspective on life.
Now I have something new to put in that frame. It's a new dream and something to aspire to. In place of that horrible list, I now have a picture of someone who I can strive to emulate. Someone who I can look at with respect and someone who I can look to as a role model for how I want to live my life.
